My summer at Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP was truly a positive experience. I was given the opportunity to assist in drafting agreements relating to corporate transactions. I was also involved in research assignments covering a variety of practice areas including estate planning, municipal planning, securities law, and corporate law. I was very impressed with Gowlings' strong commitment to professional development. Students are provided with many helpful training sessions and continuous learning seminars.

Gowlings, Waterloo Region has an extremely collegial atmosphere. I found the professionals and staff to be warm, friendly, and genuinely interested in fostering the development of students. They were always willing to explain assignments and help whenever questions arose.

My summer experience has been an ideal combination of education, responsibility, and camaraderie. I am delighted to be returning to Gowlings for articling.

My articling experience at Gowlings was exceptional. The lawyers and staff were all very friendly and informative, making it easy to adjust to the new working environment. During my time at Gowlings, I completed rotations in the business law and advocacy departments. I had the opportunity to work on exciting files and projects, through which I was exposed to many areas of the law. I assisted with the drafting of documents, completed research assignments, and assisted with the closing of major transactions. I also attended court and settlement conferences. The lawyers and clerks were extremely helpful in guiding me through these projects.

Apart from the hands on experience that I gained at Gowlings, I also had the opportunity to attend numerous training sessions designed specifically for articling students. Students from a number of the Gowlings' offices participated in these sessions. I attended CLE courses and workshops, as well.

Articling at Gowlings has allowed me to develop invaluable skills that will help me to excel in my career. It was a very enjoyable experience - I couldn't have asked for anything more! I am pleased to be returning to the Gowlings' Waterloo Office as an associate in the business law department.

My summers at Gowlings have been invaluable. I have gained exposure to a diverse range of practice areas, which has been instrumental in helping me develop my career goals. The professionals are approachable and willing to share their extensive knowledge. They have gone out of their way to involve me in various aspects of litigation and business law. I have had the opportunity to attend client meetings, discoveries and case conferences. I could not ask for a more comprehensive and supportive learning environment. At Gowlings, I don't feel like a student—I feel like I'm part of the team. I am looking forward to my articles.

My summer at Gowlings gave me an incredible opportunity to put the skills I learned in the classroom to use and also to learn new ones. During my time in the litigation department, I drafted memos, pleadings and attended court proceedings. The lawyers and staff at Gowlings were kind and helpful; they made my decision to article with Gowlings simple.

My summer experience at Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP in Waterloo exceeded all my expectations and motivated me to return to article. Because Gowlings is one of the largest firms in the Waterloo Region and acts for many of the region's largest corporate and public sector institutions, I have had the opportunity to work with many, exceptionally talented lawyers, and to gain rich experiences in a broad range of practice areas. The qualities of those with whom I worked, their friendliness, patience and expert knowledge, makes both the summer and articling experience unparalleled. I have been engaged in a number of important assignments in several different practice areas. These tasks provided me the opportunity to research critical areas of the law, draft numerous agreements, write patentability opinions and meet with a wide variety of clients. I even conducted my own small claims court trial!
