Articling Application Process

In addition to providing a résumé and transcripts, applicants should indicate a preference for the Balanced Rotation or one of our three Intensive Rotations. Following a review of applications, selected candidates are interviewed in accordance with the Law Society of Upper Canada's "Articling Recruitment Procedures". Successful applicants are selected based on individual merit and input from across the Firm.

Gowlings has hired 17 articling students for the 2009/10 articling term and we do not anticipate having any additional positions available. However, we continue to accept applications in the event articling positions become available.

For the 2010/11 articling term, Gowlings does not anticipate having any positions available in addition to those offered to our 2009 summer students. However, we continue to accept applications. We wish all articling candidates success in their search for an articling position!

Summer Application Process

The summer program at Gowlings Toronto is generally limited to students who have completed their second year of law school. Each year, Gowlings conducts interviews in accordance with the Law Society of Upper Canada's "Procedures Governing the Recruitment of Students."

We encourage students to visit the Law Society's Web site at www.lsuc.on.ca for further information on these procedures.

Gowlings has hired 16 students for our 2010 summer program. We do not expect to have any additional summer positions available but we will accept applications in the event our needs change.

Applications for second year 2011 summer positions are due on September 10, 2010. Please visit the On-Campus Interviews section for a list of schools at which we will be conducting on-campus interviews this fall.
