Welcome to Gowlings Montréal, a practice resulting from the merger of Gowlings with Lafleur Brown in 2000. Dating back to 1927, Lafleur Brown has deeply established roots in the dual law environment that characterizes the Canadian legal system.

The Montréal team includes approximately 100 legal professionals, providing expertise to a broad range of clientele nationally and internationally. Our main areas of practice are: corporate; commercial and taxation; litigation and insurance; real estate; administrative; labour; aboriginal law; and industrial and intellectual property law.

Each year, Gowlings' Montréal office selects approximately eight students to do their articling at the Firm. This small number allows for the hiring of those who successfully complete their articling at our firm. In accordance with the recruiting criteria among Montréal area law firms, Gowlings Montréal hires students two years before they join the Firm. Students begin their employment as full-time students following their second year or during the summer that precedes Bar School. Once Bar School is complete, students participate in a six-month articling program.
